Perfect Day Boat Cruise
Another busy and exciting day filled with new experiences! A morning run was offered to anyone who wanted to get up at 6:30 am and enjoy the sunrise on the beautiful lighthouse trail. Our teacher, Megan, and several students ran to the top of the lighthouse trail and back (no easy feat) and managed to take some beautiful photos of the sunrise.
Everyone participated in the Perfect Day Boat Cruise. We left the harbour and headed for the Poor Knights Islands. The boat anchored in this picturesque harbour and students were given the choice to snorkel, paddle board, kayak or swim. There were lots of different types of fish to see. We entered the largest sea water cave in the world. A hammerhead shark, a seal, and stingrays were all spotted.
Here are some student responses when asked what their favourite part of the day was: Xenia and Melanie liked the two person kayak the best; Ben, Fares, and Mark T. H. thought snorkelling was fun; Kayla and Park liked the caves; Michael and Mark S. enjoyed drifting in a cave on the paddle boards (Michael felt like the turtle from Nemo); Emma and Sarah liked the sightseeing. Diego is quite the photographer and took lots of pictures.
We are all learning that New Zealand is a very special place. The residents in Tutukaka have all been so wonderful to us and have gone out of their way to give us advice about what to see and do.
Another great day!
