Our last day in Costa Rica
Beaches and boards, a cruise along the crocodile river and horseback riding on the beach…what do these activities have in common? They were all part of our final, memorable day in Costa Rica.
GHS had an early breakfast and headed out in our van to a beautiful private beach about an hour away from Playas del Coco for our final Costa Rican adventure. It was hot and sunny and the waves were perfect when we arrived. The long sandy beach was beautiful. Everyone grabbed either a surfboard or a boogie board and hit the waves. Clear, warm water…doesn’t that sound great to friends and family back at home in Canada? A long walk down to the beach, collecting shells and sand dollars was a bonus activity that brought back memories of summer and family vacations. What a fun visit to an amazing beach!
Our surf instructor, Tim Thomson from Mojo Surf Adventures, then drove us to the crocodile river (that’s what they call it although we didn’t see any crocodiles) where we jumped into boats for the short ride into Tamarindo.
Another beautiful beach in a country seemingly full of beautiful beaches. We split up for various activities. For some of us, it was time for a lunch that reminded us of home (Subway – who knew that we were missing this food experience?), for others lunch was a beachside restaurant with tacos or burritos and a little people watching, for others it was a horseback ride along the beach. No matter the choice, everyone agreed that it was a perfect ending to a wonderful afternoon.
Back to Playas del Coco and our final dinner with Mario. It’s hard to believe that we have been here for two weeks. Tomorrow we are off to San Jose and on to Ecuador!
