We have arrived in Brisbane!

On Wednesday afternoon GHS boarded our bus for the Proserpine Airport to catch our flight to Brisbane. We were sad to leave our beautiful little oasis in Airlie Beach but there is lots more of Australia to discover. It was a short drive to catch our flight through sugar cane fields where we had been told the wallabies live. We were lamenting that nearly two weeks into our visit to Australia, we had yet to spot a kangaroo (or the close cousin, a wallaby). Our driver overheard us and took on the challenge of helping us spot these pesky creatures. He promised a sighting and sure enough, shortly afterwards we saw multiple wallabies hopping across the landscape. No pictures were taken as we were unprepared but lots of exclamations as we watched these cute little creatures.

On to Brisbane, where we settled into our home for the next week. The location is perfect, the staff are amazing and dinner was delicious. Thursday brought classes, yes mom and dad, we do study! The afternoon was filled with our scavenger hunt around this beautiful city. Bridges, beaches, the iconic Brisbane sign, the botanical gardens, a wonderful shopping district and much more were discovered as we teamed up and took some creative pictures. Dinner at a Japanese restaurant, followed by study hall and Netflix completed our day. Some of us are a little bit addicted to “Game of Thrones” and others are getting into the “Spider-verse”.

Tomorrow brings more classes and a night walk, possibly with a stop for ice cream, to see the lights of Brisbane.
