5 Star Everything on the Whitsunday Coast
GHS has arrived in Airlie Beach, which, while not actually a beach, is a lovely little town acting as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.
The highlight of our stay, so far, in this beautiful place is our hotel – give a big shout out to Colonial Palms. The rooms are wonderful, the pools (yes there are two and we are the only occupants) are a tropical paradise and the food is truly “5 star”. Our host, John, is so helpful and his wife, who does the cooking, is treating us like family. Lamb shank, roast beef, fish cakes, grilled barramundi, pasta Bolognese, chili, tofu burgers, lettuce wraps, Thai grilled eggplant and more are on the menu each evening. The desserts are incredible…the morning runs are important to balance our diet.
Happy Birthday to Jackson, we celebrated his birthday on our first night here with cake, candles, a banner and a loud rendition of Happy Birthday.
Classes are now underway in earnest. I am looking forward to receiving the students’ photos and blogs to share with all of you. Biology and physics teachers and students are pleased that we have the facilities to do some experiments. There are certainly lots of experiential opportunities, especially as we travel to the Great Barrier Reef.
We are looking forward to a busy weekend with our cruise on Saturday and a kayaking adventure on Sunday. We are arranging an outing to a waterfall with a stop to hopefully see wallabies in their natural environment next week. Lots of adventures, learning and fun at GHS!
