Semester Two

Australia, New Zealand &
The Americas

STUDY ABROAD IN AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND + CENTRAL & SOUTH AMERICA

About Semester Two

Semester Two of Global High School combines Term Three and Term Four, you’ll experience sand, surf, sun and smiles, new heights, new foods, new languages, and new friends.

Start off Semester Two in Sydney, Australia. Tour Darling Harbour and see the iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House and enjoy a day at one of the city’s many beaches, including the hip Bondi Beach, or take a coastal walk. Head north out of the city to the Whitsunday Coast, dotted with islands, lined with sublime beaches, and perfect for sun and relaxation. While here, sail to the Great Barrier Reef to discover its unique aquatic life, before travelling down the east coast to study in Brisbane, a city that offers a taste of hipster cool, with laid-back cafés, excellent vintage shopping, and an artistic vibe.

Known as the adventure capital of the world, Queenstown is a place for adventurers and thrill-seekers. Here, we’ll blend study with outdoor activities like hiking, swimming, Frisbee and many more. Our next stop in New Zealand is Rotorua. Known for its geothermal activity, the area features numerous geysers and hot mud pools. Our final stop in New Zealand is Auckland. This city offers a remarkable range of scenery, where everyone lives within half an hour of beautiful beaches, hiking trails and enchanting islands.

Next, we will travel to Costa Rica’s Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, home to thousands of species of plants and animals. Nearby, visit Arenal Volcano National Park to learn about the country’s most active volcano, and relax in hot springs before heading to Playas del Coco. It seems like a sleepy seaside town at first glance, but once you’ve familiarized yourself, you’ll find that it’s a friendly and lively place where tourists easily mix with locals and other travellers from around the globe.

Say goodbye to Costa Rica and head south to Ecuador. Our inland tour will include a stop in Puembo to study in the picturesque public parks and squares, and wander the local markets filled with fresh foods and artisan treasures. We then head into the Amazon basin to experience a wildlife adventure of a lifetime — believed by many to be home to the most diverse ecosystem in the world, with thousands of species of plants, animals, fish, and insects. Move to the northern town of Otavalo to get the opportunity to browse the Otavalo Market, known for its vibrant, Ecuadorian woven products.

Experience Lima, Peru’s capital where a bustling metropolis exists within an ancient city. Travel through the Sacred Valley to the breathtaking site of Machu Picchu, hike amid a cloud forest and stone cliffs, and explore the history of Incan civilization. In the lively city of Cusco in the southern Andes, become acquainted with the area’s culture and history, which illuminates through museums, striking architecture, and Inca ruins. Immerse yourself and take it all in before final exams and a celebration of your unforgettable year abroad with a farewell banquet.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All visitors to Ecuador are obligated to provide proof of health insurance upon entry into the country of Ecuador. All participants of this program are required to have travel medical insurance.
