Australia & New Zealand
Boomerangs, didgeridoos, kangaroos and kiwis await you on the other side of the globe. Discover the land down under’s unique wildlife and eco-systems, visit natural wonders, and ride the waves before hopping over to New Zealand’s adventures and astounding landscapes. In Term Three of Global High School, you’ll experience the sand, surf, sun and smiles this part of the world is known for.
Start off Semester Two in Sydney, Australia. Tour Darling Harbour and see the iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House and enjoy a day at one of the city’s many beaches, including the hip Bondi Beach, or take a coastal walk.
Head north out of the city to the Whitsunday Coast, dotted with islands, lined with sublime beaches, and perfect for sun and relaxation. While here, sail to the Great Barrier Reef and discover its unique aquatic life before traveling down the east coast to study in Brisbane, a city that offers a taste of hipster cool, with laid-back cafés, excellent vintage shopping, and an artistic vibe. Visit the area’s Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to meet koalas, feed kangaroos, and learn about unique Australian wildlife.
A marvel of geography, New Zealand offers dramatic landscapes that provided the backdrop for the Lord of the Rings films—no CGI needed here! Our first stop in New Zealand is Dunedin, a university town on the South Island, known for its Scottish and Maori heritage.
Known as the adventure capital of the world, Queenstown is a place for adventurers and thrill seekers. Here, we’ll blend study with outdoor activities like hiking, swimming, Frisbee and many more.
Our final stop in New Zealand is Auckland. This city offers a remarkable range of scenery, where everyone lives within half an hour of beautiful beaches, hiking trails and enchanting islands. It’s a great environment to rest, study and recalibrate before heading across the Pacific Ocean to begin Term Four.
Central & South America
From the beaches of Nicaragua to the rainforests of Costa Rica and the breath-taking vistas of Peru, South and Central America will captivate your imagination and challenge your perceptions. During Term Four of Global High School, you’ll experience new heights, new foods, new languages, and new friends.
Begin your final term in Nicaragua, whose coastline, culture and natural splendour continue to inspire and amaze visitors. The country’s cool surf towns, gorgeous coastal beaches, lush rainforests, and volcanic peaks make it one of the must-see places in Latin America. Start your journey in the seaside town of San Juan del Sur, where you can hit the beach after classes to play volleyball, take a surf lesson or swim in the cool blue waters. Inland, get in touch with your wild side on Ometepe Island, a nature lover’s paradise and an adventurer’s dream. Hike on a volcano and learn how plants and animals have adapted in this unique ecosystem. In Granada, we’ll admire the colonial architecture and soak up the buzz of this lively and vibrant city.
Heading south to Costa Rica, The Guanacaste Region of Costa Rica has a dry tropical climate with a varied landscape. White sand beaches line the coast, and to the east the Guanacaste Mountains showcase national parks and volcanoes – the perfect location to zip line through the rainforest.
Moving inland, the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is home to thousands of species of plants and animals. Learn about cloud forest ecology and take a guided night hike through the reserve. Nearby, visit Arenal Volcano National Park to learn about the country’s most active volcano, and relax in the area’s hot springs before saying goodbye to Costa Rica and heading south to Peru, a country world-renowned for its ancient archaeological sites, including the famed Machu Picchu, and for its vibrant culture.
Travel through the Sacred Valley to the breathtaking site of Machu Picchu, hike amid a cloud forest and stone cliffs, and explore the history of Incan civilization. In the the lively city of Cusco in the southern Andes, become acquainted with the area’s culture and history. A startling contrast of bustling lively markets within an ancient city, Cusco was the capital of the Inca Empire, and reflects its rich history with illuminating museums, striking architecture, and Inca ruins.
