Global High School 2016-17 Term 3:

A Safe Arrival in Sydney

Greetings from Australia!

Well…we did it!  After passing through a few different time zones and spending many hours in the air, we finally touched down in Sydney.

The flights couldn’t have been more seamless.  We went from plane to plane with ease and everyone got at least a little bit of sleep on the flights (or stayed awake and binge watched movies!)

We were picked up at the Sydney airport by our private coach, which took us directly to Sydney Central Youth Hostel.  The manager of our hostel welcomed us very warmly and gave us a place to store our luggage before we went out for a quick walk around the neighbourhood. Our accommodations are clean and spacious, with so many friendly and interesting travelers from all over the world. It is also perfectly situated in the city with access to cafes, restaurants, pharmacies, grocery stores, and the central station. Also, the weather is PERFECT!!!  It is a beautiful 25 degrees.

Tonight we’ll have dinner at 6pm at ‘Incafe’ – a trendy restaurant attached to the hostel.  We’ll follow this with an official orientation, a discussion of the program/academics, and some ‘get-to-know-you’ games (though it already seems like they’ve known each other forever). We’ll have a relaxing night in the hostel thereafter, so we can rest up from a tiring few days of travel.

Tomorrow after breakfast we have a guided walking tour of the city, followed first day of classes.

It was so lovely to meet most of you at the orientation and/or airport.  On behalf of the staff, we look forward to leading your children around these exotic countries over the next few months.  It will be an academic and social adventure of a lifetime.

I will have many more updates for you in the days to come so stay tuned!

I hope all is well back home.

Alex
