Final Days in this Beautiful Surf Town:

Travel Journal 2016-17 Term 4

Hi everyone!  We are already in the final few days of San Juan Del Sur.  This little surf town has been so good to us. It’s given us sun, cultural exchanges, MANY healthy tropical fruit smoothies, the Pacific, beautiful study spots, hundreds of photo opportunities, and lots of physical activity.

Our week kicked off with a surf lesson at Playa Remanso.  We couldn’t have asked for better weather on this day.  Clear skies and perfect waves – a surfer’s paradise.  Our instructors at Arena Caliente Surf Camp were incredible and got nearly all of our students standing up on the boards. Pictures are up on Vidigami so be sure to take a look!

On Wednesday afternoon our whole group went to Bario Planta Project (BPP) for a day of community service.  BPP is a non-profit organization that empowers local youth with free supplementary schooling.  This organization is absolutely incredible.  There are many of these movements around the world, yet BPP shines in professionalism, organization, and a genuine passion for enriching the lives of local children.  Our students were blown away by the whole experience.  Many of them even asked the organization if they could return the next day to do more volunteering! We taught English, exchanged cultural information, danced, played games, and smashed a great big piñada at the end.  It was a perfect afternoon and the local children were so excited to be with the Canadians.

It’s been a great week for everyone!  Our remaining two days consist of classes, last minute shopping, homework, and even a second round of horseback riding!

We will be driving to Costa Rica this Sunday. Coming up we have Monteverde, Arenal, and Coco!

Until the next update 🙂
